I recently spent 2 nights at Hotel Kasteel De Essenburgh, and I really enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was delightful, featuring fair trade spreads and fresh breads. My single room was comfortable and came equipped with coffee and tea, plus I loved the metal frame beds. The hotel is perfectly situated near beautiful nature, interesting sights, and a lovely lake.

Hotel was newly remodelled, I loved the stay.
great value, room was beautiful, staff were excellent. i ate at a nice restaurant with great atmosphere. the bed was good, as were the pillows. the location was stunning and the room was tidy. it was good to be 1 km away from sparky's grill, serving short-orders.

We had a fantastic meal at the excellent restaurant, which had a wonderful atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. 😊.

Staff were often not really up to the job I am afraid.
Initially we were shown a room that was tiny, so small in fact that the double bed was against one of the walls.

Location is good, as is the outside and inside of the hotel, apart from the rooms.
The rooms are pretty old fashioned, not in a romantic way. There's no toilet and shower in the room (as mentioned beforehand). This is not a big deal since they're located in the hallway. However, there's only one toilet (multiple showers) which is not very good when it's busy.

Always a lovely stay at Hotel Kasteel De Essenburgh. the place is interesting, clean, and located in a very quiet area. the units are well-kept with comfortable metal frame beds and offer coffee and tea. the staff is exceptionally nice, making the experience even better. Plus, it's in an amazing location close to Plymouth Hoe, with a wide variety of food options just a short walk away.

The castle is beautifully situated and really close to De Zwaluwhoeve Wellness centre, which is where we went during the day. Spending the night at Kasteel de Essenburgh was the perfect endig to a relaxing day. And a great start of the next morning. The hotel provides a nice breakfast and directions if you like to take a walk around the property which we did and which I can recommend. Then we finished with a nice cup of coffee on their sunny terrace.
The shower (private) and toilets (shared) are in the hallway and not in the room, so some may find that a problem. The hotel keeps everything tidy though and provides a robe and slippers for walking to and from the facilities.

We were not really in the castle but in a part called the hoeve. The beds were not very good, too soft. Television was very limited for NL. You could really hear the neighbors. Shower was just ok. When asking I found out that rooms in castle did not even had bath and toilet in the room. Restaurant food was excellent and waitress was very nice.

I stayed in a charming castle room with a lovely view of the grounds and lake. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed the convenience of having tea and coffee facilities in the room. The breakfast had a great selection, including hot scrambled eggs. The hotel is located in a quiet area with beautiful surroundings. I had a great stay and would recommend it.

It was a perfect place to get away, but the luxury as shown on the site is not how we experienced it. ''Staying in a castle'' but then in a room with no atmosphere of a castle. A pity! Not as romantic as written in the description.

Beautiful and picturesque estate with mesmerising outside seating. Rooms have castle flair and are clean and comfortable. Friendly staff and grand, good breakfast. Good selection of food and historic decor. Nice wooded grounds and atmosphere. Walking distance to lovely spa. Amazing location surrounded by green property, feels remote. Heard birds and saw deer, enjoyed nice walks. Nice terrace, lunch, and service. Short drive or walk to sauna. Great!

Reasonable price, impressive castle-like building in quiet nature scenery. Driving up the entrylane makes you feel majestic.
Once through the classic building and hallways, all glamour and magic is lost with uninspired, small, and lifeless rooms and bathrooms.
